ABOUT VERSODY CONSULTING
Versody Consulting is the consulting practice of Liz Ugrin.
A career-long marketing storyteller passionate about communicating value and clarifying the promise of a brand, Liz is best known for her expertise in growing brands, building communities, and innovating with digital media as an in-house Director of Marketing or Digital Marketing Strategist.
Now an independent consultant, her recent clients have included a retail technology startup building a brand voice from scratch, a manufacturing firm in need of a website overhaul to expand into new markets, a public speaker needing digital expertise for her latest book launch, and a professional services firm ready to ride the next wave of growth and transformation.
Before stepping full time into consulting, Liz headed up the brand and messaging refresh for Ifeelgoods, a digital advertising technology startup, launching a digital marketing makeover including a new website and content marketing program.
Previously, Liz owned digital marketing strategy and social media for the number #1 cookie dough brand in America, Otis Spunkmeyer, as well as other ARYZTA CPG and foodservice brands.
Before that, she served as Director of Marketing for MBO Partners, focused on maximizing thought leadership, demand generation, and brand strength.
Liz Ugrin has expertise in website makeovers, content marketing, branding and naming, market positioning, and social marketing strategy for both B2B and B2C markets.
THE MEANING OF OUR NAME
"Our language comes in two forms: verse and prose. Verse must abide by metrical rules; prose is everything else. Outside of poetry, song and other forms of verse, prose makes up the way we communicate in language, and includes fiction, non-fiction, dialogue, business communications and journalism.
"By some paradox, the study of verse was termed prosody. Stranger yet, a name for the art of prose was never given. We have no adequate label for our interest and study of language the way we most often speak it, write it and read it.
"Since prosody was usurped by the fans of verse, I am left with a completely fabricated word, versody.
"Versody exists in no dictionary, and yet for me has come to represent the scope of my fascination with language and brand communications. All my life I've been interested in literature, transformative linguistics, framing, marketing communications, persuasive writing and storytelling.
"My career quest has been to tell a better brand story, and to use language in innovative, transformative ways for my clients. When it came time to name my consulting practice, Versody was not only a natural fit, but as a new, fabricated word, it gave me a blank creative canvas on which to establish my brand."
